Our research guides provide a great starting point for your research at London Metropolitan Archives. Each guide introduces its theme with key contextual information before providing an overview of the documents in our collections which may be useful.

The list below provides an A to Z index of the subject areas you will find within the guides. It's a list of subjects covered, rather than a list of the Research Guides. Each subject on the list will link to one or more research guides. You can also find the guides by searching the catalogue, using the search box at the top of this page or any other search box within the Collections Catalogue. For example, if you're familiar with our guide 'Records of City of London Police Officers', a search for the word police will find it. Research guides always appear at the top of your search results, so it's always easy to spot them.
